SlideCafe is a native desktop editor for .pptx presentations - a full WYSIWYG slide editor that opens, edits, and saves PowerPoint files right on your computer, without a browser tab or a subscription.

A complete slide editor (text, shapes, images, tables, charts, lines, formulas, animations, transitions and themes) wrapped in a fast, native desktop app - edit your deck visually and export it back to .pptx.

SlideCafe is one of a trio of native document editors from getapps.cafe: DocCafe for Word .docx documents, SheetCafe for Excel .xlsx spreadsheets, and SlideCafe for PowerPoint .pptx decks - same fast, offline, native experience across all three.

Highlights

  1. Real .pptx editing - open a PowerPoint file and edit every slide visually: text boxes, shapes, images, tables, charts, lines, LaTeX formulas, animations and transitions.
  2. WYSIWYG slide canvas - drag, resize, align, group, layer and recolor elements on a true slide canvas, with a thumbnail rail, rulers, grid lines and snapping.
  3. All your fonts - the font menu lists every font installed on your computer, and exported PDFs keep the typefaces on your slides.
  4. Fast save - one keystroke overwrites the original .pptx in place, no extra dialog. New, Open and Save As have their usual shortcuts too.
  5. Export to PPTX / PDF / image - export your deck to PowerPoint, PDF, or per-slide images from one Export panel, or print it straight away.
  6. Present mode - run the deck full-screen as a slideshow with transitions and speaker notes, straight from the editor.
  7. Unsaved-changes guard - every edit marks the deck as changed; New, Open, Close and Quit ask before discarding work.
  8. Drag-and-drop + Open With - drop a .pptx from your file manager onto the window, or choose Open With → SlideCafe on any deck. Registered as an alternate handler so it never fights PowerPoint for the default.
  9. Everything in one menu - New, Open, Save, Export, password protection and Settings sit in the menu beside the slide list, with keyboard shortcuts for the basics.
  10. Offline, no account, no subscription - runs entirely on your machine. Files stay on disk where you put them. No cloud sync, no telemetry, no login.

How it works

Launch SlideCafe and open a presentation from the menu, a file picker, a drag onto the window, or by double-clicking a .pptx in your file manager. Edit on the full slide canvas, then save to overwrite the original, or use Export for PDF and images. Press Present to run the deck full-screen.

Everything runs locally on your machine - no cloud, no upload, no waiting. The unsaved-changes guard means you never lose edits to a misclick.

SlideCafe is built on PPTist and is therefore released under the AGPL-3.0. The complete source of version 1.8.0 - including the desktop shell and the build scripts - is slidecafe-source-1.8.0.zip. Every published version keeps its own archive at download.getapps.cafe/slidecafe-source-<version>.zip. Settings in the app links the license and the source.

Perfect for

  1. Anyone who just wants a desktop pptx editor - no Microsoft 365 subscription, no browser tab; opens in a second and saves where you expect.
  2. Quick edits on decks you receive - double-click an emailed .pptx, tweak a slide, save, send it back.
  3. Building a deck from scratch - start with a blank slide and add text, shapes, charts and images with the full editing toolbar.
  4. Privacy-conscious users - fully offline, no account, no telemetry; files never leave your machine.
